KAUFFMANS Flex Steps is a professional blend of nutraceuticals proven to contribute to equine joint health. In addition to glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid and methylsulfonylmethane, Flex Steps supplement also gives your horse two types of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids called DHA and EPA. In addition, Flex Steps is an omega-3F blended supplement that helps make the other active ingredients palatable to horses.
Features:
- Flax seed (ground) is a significant source of essential Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are necessary for proper maintenance of healthy plasma membranes and they have been shown to stimulate the immune system and modulate inflammatory reactions in a variety of equine tissues, including joints.
- Yeast culture has been scientifically shown to support enhanced digestion and digestive efficiency, particularly the digestibility of important macro- and micro-minerals (Ca, P, Cu, Zn and Mg), integral to healthy bones and joints.
- Glucosamine sulfate is commonly used as an oral supplement for the treatment of osteoarthritis as it is a precursor for glycosaminoglycans (GAG) in joint cartilage. Glucosamine sulfate may help to rebuild or slow degeneration of cartilage.
- Chondroitin sulfate is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) that is an important structural component of cartilage, providing much of its resistance to compression.
- Hyaluronic acid (also called hyaluronan or hyaluronate or HA) is a non-sulfated GAG widely distributed throughout connective and neural tissues. It is an important component of articular cartilage as it helps trap fluid and is responsible for the resilience of cartilage.
- Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an organosulfur compound that serves as a supplemental source of sulfur and when used in conjunction with glucosamine and chondroitin has been shown to help prevent osteoarthritis. Also, there is limited evidence suggesting that MSM has anti-inflammatory effects in osteoarthritic joints.
- Glycine (abbreviated Gly) is the smallest of the 20 amino acids commonly found in proteins. Due to its unique non- chiral structure, it makes up approximately 35% of collagen, the most abundant protein in mammals. Collagen is integral to the structural integrity, growth and development of bones and joints.
- Antioxidant vitamins are crucial to reducing oxidative stress in equine joints. KAUFFMANS Flex Steps Pellets features water-soluble (Vitamin C) and fat-soluble (Vitamin E) sources of antioxidant vitamins to more completely combat oxidative stress.
